I have completed my Pokémon Black game and was wonder ing how to catch Shiny Pokémon. I want to do this without cheats. Please help!

Hi George, nice to hear from you. Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy answer to catching a Shiny Pokémon; it can be very challenging. There is only a 1 in 8,192 chance of encountering one in the wild. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl you could use the Poké Radar to improve your chances of encountering a Shiny Pokémon, but that’s no longer an option in Pokémon Black. You can increase your chances of hatching a Shiny Pokémon through breeding; you’ll have to trade with someone with a game in a different language. Hatching an egg between two Pokémon from different-language cartridges increases your chances of encountering a Shiny Pokémon to 1 in 1,365.3. Be sure to always have plenty of Ultra Balls with you in case you ever run into one in the wild, as this is a rare opportunity that you won’t want to miss!
Waking up a SnorlaxDear Professor Yew,
I am stuck on Pokémon SoulSilver. I can’t wake up Snorlax. I checked on the Internet and it said I need the Poké Flute that is on the radio on the Poké Gear. I go to Snorlax and check my radio, but there is no Poké Flute. Please can you help me?

Many thanks for your letter, Cahir. You’re doing everything right, except it sounds like you’re missing the Radio Card. To obtain it, visit the Radio Tower in Lavender City; an old man will run up to you and give you the Radio Card. With the Radio Card in hand, head to Snorlax, open the Radio and move the station to the top, using the touch screen to select the Poké Flute. You should now be able to wake up Snorlax and be on your merry way.
What’s next?Dear Professor Yew,
I am stuck in Pokémon White. Now that I finished catching the Seven Sages I have nothing to do. Therefore number one of my questions is: is there anything interesting to do after catching the Seven Sages? Also, my second problem is that I heard you can catch Pokémon like Shroomish, Ralts and many other Pokémon in White Forest. Sadly, the only ones I find are Wurmple, Slakoth and Aron. Please help me!

Hi Piotr, thanks for your letter. There’s plenty to do after you’ve beaten Pokémon White. If you haven’t done so already, you can visit the Battle Subway and hone up on your battling skills. Pokémon battles will be tougher – all Trainers you face will have at least Level 60 Pokémon and the Pokémon of the Elite Four will be above Level 70. You can visit Opelucid City and head east towards the Giant Chasm, where you can catch the Legendary Pokémon Kyurem. You can visit Undella Town and speak to a girl who will give you HM06 Dive; you can then dive nearby to acquire all of Arceus’s plates. There are a lot of cool Pokémon to catch in White Forest, but you’ll need to do a bit of work to make them appear. The wild Pokémon that appear depend on the number of residents in White Forest; the longer it takes the player to reach White Forest, the more residents. To unlock new Pokémon, you can use the Entralink with your mates to increase the number of residents. You should then be able to catch Ralts and other Pokémon.

I’d just like to ask will Misty ever come back? Because personally I think Misty is the best Pokémon girl ever. PS. I absolutely love Pokémon.

Many thanks for your letter, Rose. Misty’s appearances have been few and far between since her departure a few years ago from the anime. Her last few appearances were in the Advanced Generation series, including a cameo in the ‘Mastermind of the Mirage Pokémon’ special. Never say never, but it doesn’t look like Misty will be appearing any time soon. Thank you for your letter. You’re right, Arceus is very powerful; it has the highest total base stat out of any Pokémon. The major downside is that Arceus is a Legendary Pokémon; it’s alright to use Arceus against your friends, but it’s banned from Nintendo tournaments. When building a Pokémon team it’s important to build a well-balanced team and not concentrate on one Pokémon; every Pokémon is powerful in its own way with the right moves and strategy. What’s gone wrong in Dream World?Dear Professor Yew,
I am a super, ultra, mega fan of Pokémon. I have Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver and White. I have a question. I put my Excadrill in the Dream World and I have put lots of other Pokémon in the Dream World before, but it was the first time I ever went to the haunted house place. I befriended a Houndour and I took lots of items back, but when I tried to return it to my game, it said ‘ERROR CODE 31020’ and it’s the same error code with the mystery gift. I changed the router channel, but it still doesn’t work. Can you help me, please? Please publish this in Pokémon World magazine.

Hi Duncan, thank you for your wonderful letter. It seems like a lot of Pokémon gamers are having this error message in their games. It could be related to a couple of things. Your router may be the issue: try enabling the DMZ feature or changing the TCP timeout value to greater than five minutes. If you recently downloaded a C-Gear Skin, try changing it back to the previous skin and see if your Pokémon will wake up. This error seems to be widespread; hopefully Nintendo will come out with a patch for it soon!
