The mixture should make enough for 12-15 cookies, depending on their size.
150g PLAIN FLOUR
50g BROWN SUGAR
1/2tsp BICARBONATE OF SODA
1tsp GROUND GINGER
4tsp GOLDEN SYRUP
EXTRA ITEMS YOU WILL NEED…
For the decorating you you need icing sugar, yellow food colouring for Pikachu’s face and black and red writing icing to draw the face details on.
TIME 20 MINUTES
Before you start:
Remember to wash and dry your hands properly with soap and water. Important: Ovens can be very dangerous – be sure to ask an adult to turn the oven on for you and get them to take the stuff out of there when it’s hot!
4. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out circle shapes from the flattened dough. Then take small pieces of dough and roll them into small sausage shapes in your hand. Stick two of them on to each circle for Pikachu’s ears.
5. Get a grown-up to pop the cookies into the oven for about 8-10 minutes. While they’re cooking pour some icing sugar into a bowl and add a little bit of water to make it into a thick paste. Add two drops of yellow food colouring.
6. Ask an adult to take the cookies out of the oven. Leave to cool completely then add your yellow icing all over the ‘faces’. Pop in the fridge to set a bit and then add the ears, eyes, cheeks and mouth. And you’re done!
Why not use red or pink sweets for Pikachu’s cheeks? Mmmm, tasty chocolate!
