The Mario Tennis series launched on the Nintendo 64 back in July 2000 and has given us some fantastic games on the Game Boy Color, GameCube and Game Boy Advance. Well now it’s the turn of the shiny new Nintendo 3DS as Mario and friends smash it out to see who is the best on the court. In typical Nintendo fashion, Mario Tennis Open is being designed to be playable by as many people as possible. You can use the touch screen, gyro sensor or basic button controls so there is no excuse to not try this game out!!

Mario Tennis Open does not disappoint fans of multiplayer gaming as it offers both local (you and three friends sitting together in the same room) and online play for up to four players! You don’t even need the other players to have the game – it uses Nintendo 3DS Download Play so that they can join in without a cart. And here’s the highlight: Nintendo is hosting an online leaderboard so you can show off your tennis skills to the entire world… ace!

As well as being able to play in both singles and doubles matches, you can unlock coins which can be used to buy clothes and items for your playable Mii from the in-game store. You’ll be able to dress your Mii up as Bowser, make them wear a Mario shirt or even have Bowser’s tennis racquet before playing as them in a game of tennis. Each of these items will contribute towards your status as a player, so you’ll need to choose carefully to ensure that all your status is as high as possible!
